Prep Baseball notes for Wednesday, May 6th, 2009.
Northland Prep Academy ends the season on a roll by defeating Williams and Fredonia to get the 3rd seed in the North 1A Division.
Joe City has a meltdown late in the season and squanders what seemed to be a for sure #3 seed with 34 being at least a lock but in the end they lose out on the playoffs.
The West division showed it may have been taken over the South division as the toughest division from top to bottom as they needed a 3-way playoff between St. pauls, mayer and Surrey Garden just to select a team for the 4th seed from the West. In the end St. Pauls won out and is now the 4th seed from the West.
Ft. Thomas is one of the feel good stories of the 1A state tournament. After an abysmal 2008 baseball season where all they di was get 1-2 wins, they came out with a vengeance and secured the 3rd seed from the East division. The last time they made the playoffs was back in 1998! Congratualtions to Ft. Thomas and staff for turning their fortunes around.
